Join the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, October 1st for our Monthly Chamber Luncheon.

Shafina Khaki, Human Rights Officer for the City of Austin, will be our guest speaker for a timely conversation exploring findings from the City’s human rights work and what they mean for Austin’s small business community. 

Shafina Khaki serves as the appointed Human Rights Officer for the City of Austin. An attorney by trade, with expertise in the intersection of business and human rights, environmental social governance, and sustainability, Shafina leads the Human Rights Division housed within the City’s Equity and Inclusion Office – which is home to equity, civil rights, and human rights. The City’s first Human Rights Framework – a top 25 Goal under the leadership of City Manager Broadnax - has set forth mitigations across 12 human rights issue areas, inclusive of the LGBTQIA+ community. Join us on Thursday, October 1, where Shafina will be sharing the key highlights of the City’s first human rights framework, data points and key considerations throughout the review process, the next implementation phase, and opportunities for stakeholders to lean in.

We’ll explore where human rights, inclusion, and entrepreneurship intersect, and how local businesses can turn those insights into meaningful practices.
