Business & Administrative Internship (Paid)

Business & Chamber Administrative Intern

Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce | Austin, Texas

11-Week Paid Internship | $15/hour | 10–15 Hours/Week

Want hands-on experience in business, marketing, membership, events, and community engagement — all in one internship?

The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is looking for an organized, curious, and tech-savvy Business & Chamber Operations Intern to join our small but mighty team for an 11-week paid internship through the end of the year.

The Chamber serves LGBTQ+ and allied businesses throughout Central Texas, connecting entrepreneurs and small businesses with one another, major employers, resources, and opportunities.

This isn't an internship where you'll spend 11 weeks doing one thing. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how a membership-based business organization operates while helping our team get real work done.

What You'll Do

You'll work directly with the President & CEO and Chamber staff on projects across the organization, including:

  • Supporting member onboarding, outreach, database updates, and other membership activities.
  • Assisting with social media, newsletters, website updates, event promotion, and content organization.
  • Helping prepare guest lists, materials, signage, registration, and logistics for Chamber events.
  • Conducting research and organizing spreadsheets, documents, contact lists, and project information.
  • Assisting with GrowthZone, our membership CRM, and other digital platforms.
  • Helping us find smarter and more efficient ways to manage recurring administrative work.
  • Supporting staff with special projects and day-to-day Chamber operations.
  • Helping prepare for and execute the Chamber's Business of Pride Awards Gala in December.

In other words: you'll get to see and participate in a little bit of everything.

Who We're Looking For

We're especially interested in candidates who are:

  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communicators, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable with technology and quick to learn new platforms.
  • Curious and willing to ask questions.
  • Able to take ownership of an assignment and follow it through.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
  • Interested in helping businesses and connecting with Austin's business community.

Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, social media, CRM/database systems, or project-management tools is helpful but not required.

This internship is particularly well suited for students or recent graduates interested in business, business development, marketing, communications, hospitality, events, entrepreneurship, or nonprofit management.

The Details

The internship runs for 11 weeks at approximately 10–15 hours per week and pays $15 per hour.

Most work will take place in person at the Austin LGBT Chamber office during regular business hours. Some evening and weekend availability will be required for Chamber events, particularly around our annual Business of Pride Awards Gala in December.

We will work with the selected candidate to establish a regular schedule that can accommodate academic or other commitments when possible.

What You'll Get From It

You'll work alongside Chamber leadership and interact with entrepreneurs, small-business owners, corporate partners, nonprofit leaders, creatives, hospitality professionals, and community organizations throughout Central Texas.

Our goal isn't simply to get some extra help for 11 weeks. We want you to leave with meaningful professional experience, stronger business skills, new relationships, and tangible work you can point to as you build your career.

Equal Opportunity Employment
