Marketing & Communication Manager

Marketing & Communications Manager

Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce | Austin, Texas

Starting Salary: $60,000, negotiable based on experience

The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is seeking a creative, collaborative, and hands-on Marketing & Communications Manager to tell the stories of our members, promote our programs and resources, and strengthen the Chamber's position as the economic hub for LGBTQ+ and allied businesses in Central Texas.

We're a small team doing big work. The Chamber connects entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, major employers, community partners, and civic leaders across Central Texas — and this position helps make those connections and their impact visible.

This is a hands-on role. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating — whether that's designing an event campaign, building a newsletter, telling a member's story, managing social content, updating the website, creating sponsor graphics, or capturing content at a Chamber event.

What You'll Do

You'll lead the day-to-day execution of the Chamber's marketing and communications, including:

  • Manage social media, email marketing, website content, newsletters, and digital campaigns.
  • Create graphics, promotional materials, presentations, signage, and other visual assets.
  • Develop compelling content showcasing Chamber members, partners, programs, resources, and impact.
  • Strengthen the Chamber's brand around entrepreneurship, small-business growth, economic development, connection, and opportunity.
  • Develop scalable opportunities to increase the visibility of Chamber members and Core Partners.
  • Lead marketing and communications for the Chamber's annual calendar of events and programs, including major signature initiatives.
  • Support media relations and external communications in collaboration with the President & CEO.
  • Use analytics, SEO, and emerging digital tools to improve how audiences discover and engage with the Chamber and its members.
  • Recruit and supervise marketing and communications interns as appropriate.

Because we're a staff of four, collaboration matters. Everyone occasionally pitches in outside their primary lane, particularly around major events and programs. Some evening and weekend work is required.

What We're Looking For

We prefer candidates with at least three years of equivalent professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, digital media, events, or a related field.

Strong writing and graphic-design skills are essential. Video content production and editing experience is strongly preferred.

Candidates should be comfortable with Google Workspace, Microsoft Word and Excel, Canva, Adobe, and major social media platforms.

Experience with GrowthZone or another CRM, Constant Contact or another email marketing platform, Slack, Basecamp, Sprout Social or similar tools, website content management, SEO, digital analytics, and video production is a plus. Candidates do not need experience with every platform listed.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who is curious, organized, creative, comfortable taking ownership, and excited about helping businesses succeed.

Compensation & Benefits

The position starts at $60,000 annually, with room to negotiate based on experience.

Benefits include employee health, dental, and vision coverage at no cost to the employee, with dependent coverage available at additional employee cost; unlimited PTO with approval; and 401(k) matching up to 3% following the applicable qualifying period.

You'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of Austin's small-business, corporate, creative, hospitality, nonprofit, and civic communities while helping shape the next chapter of one of Central Texas' leading LGBTQ+ business organizations.
