Presented by Host Publications, I Scream Social is a monthly feminist reading series and ice cream party that takes place at Alienated Majesty Books. We aim to celebrate and empower historically marginalized writers and share incredible literature and diverse perspectives to an Austin-area audience. Ari Kelly is a Chinese American Poet raised in the central Texas Hill Country. He focuses on the Asian American, queer, Texan experience with a priority in bringing the American south and all its people the love we deserve. His work can be found most recently in the Citizen Trans collection, and the Behind Closed Doors Anthology.
Kaitlyn Marzetta McClung is an Austin-based multidisciplinary artist, musician, and literary scholar whose work bridges creativity and academia. Named a 2024 emerging artist by the Utah Literary Arts Festival, Marzetta focuses her work on Black Southern queerness, womanhood, and spirituality. She is the author of The Garden: Poems, 2nd Edition, now available for purchase!
Julie Poole is the author of two books of poems, Bright Specimen and Gorgeous Freak. Her essays and journalism can be found in the Texas Observer, Texas Monthly, Bon Appétit, HuffPost, and Slate. She is currently working on a memoir.
Austen Schreib is a proud queer writer born and raised in Austin. They celebrate and express their queer experience through poetry, short stories, and long form narratives. They graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and creative writing from the University of Texas, and are a trained editor working in the publishing industry.
