Join KUT & KUTX for live music, insightful speakers, and much more in a celebration of the Austin community.
The inaugural KUT Fest lands on the UT Austin campus on May 1-2, and we think it's your kind of weekend. It's a full day of ideas, music, and community. Plus, live performances on the LBJ Library Lawn, conversations about the issues shaping Austin and Texas, all woven together in one of the great public spaces in this city. Here are a few sessions we think will resonate with your community.
Who Can Still Afford Austin? brings together City of Austin Council Member Ryan Alter, Travis County Commissioner Jeffrey Travillion, and community advocate Carmen Llanes of Go Austin Vamos Austin for a frank conversation about housing costs, displacement, and who gets to stay in the city they've built their lives in - moderated by Alberta Phillips of the Austin Free Press.
A Conversation with Adriene Mishler - the Austin-based yoga teacher and YouTube pioneer behind Find What Feels Good - reflects on building one of the world's largest wellness communities and what it means to help people find their way back to themselves. Moderated by KUT's Jennifer Stayton.
Postcards from the Border closes the day with a multimedia experience combining literature, music, and photography to tell the human story of the U.S.- Mexico border — the one that gets lost in the politics. Featuring author Oscar Cásares and musicians David Pulkingham and Carrie Rodriguez in conversation with Horizontes host Alex Marrero.
And the outdoor program is completely free all day — live music from Shakey Graves, BLK ODYSSY, J'cuuzi, and Melissa Carper on the Main Stage, free conversations on the KUT Considers Stage, and the Street Fair along the LBJ Library Lawn. Come for a session, stay for the whole day.
Some sessions are free and open to all, some require a pass. Get 10% off your pass with the discount code ALBGT26 and join us on the UT campus on May 1-2.
