About Katherine Sobel

Katherine Sobel serves as a Program Manager in the Small Business Division of the City of Austin’s Economic Development Department. In her role, she supports businesses with 1-1 consulting, education, and resources in addition to serving as the department’s lead on Anti-Displacement strategies in relation to Project Connect. Katherine previously spent time as the Director of Education and Training for PeopleFund CDFI doing largely the same, though the focus was on helping businesses prepare for and access capital. In addition to her work with the City, Katherine adjuncts for Austin Community College teaching the Small Business Management continuing education series and is completing a PhD at Texas Tech University. Katherine believes that all people deserve the opportunity to lead a quality life, many of which have the dream of starting or growing a small business. As a life long learner and resource connector, Katherine enjoys supporting people in bringing their business goals to reality.
