Description

Details Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay is a powerful memoir exploring her relationship with food, body image, and trauma, particularly following a childhood sexual assault that led to weight gain as a coping mechanism for protection and comfort. The book candidly discusses the psychological and emotional struggles of living in a large body in a culture obsessed with appearance, examining themes of self-care, desire, and the journey toward self-acceptance, rather than a simple weight-loss narrative. ‍ ‍ Please have finished the book and arrive with a note or two for discussion. ‍ ‍ ZOOM link of Spring Queer Book Club Tea Social will be given to those registered. *(it will be over Zoom - BYOT ~ Bring Your Own Tea!) Please email me at [Wbob@familyeldercare.org] to register. Copies both in e-book and audiobooks can be borrowed from the Austin Public Library. If you are unable to use e-books or audio and cannot buy your own print book email [wbob@familyeldercare.org] and one will be provided for you. Discussion will be led by Kitty Von Quim. ‍ ‍
