Description
“Witness,” a multimedia performance and album by photojournalist and musician Tamir Kalifa, draws audiences into the human stories behind the headlines. Through live projections and music, Tamir fuses his original songs with his images to reveal powerful stories of migration, survival, loss, and hope. This performance at the Rollins Studio Theatre marks the release of the album and the premiere of the full project — an immersive experience where concert and photographic storytelling converge.
Artist Bio:
Tamir Kalifa is an independent photographer and musician based between Austin, Texas, and Berlin, Germany. Guided by the belief that compassionate visual storytelling can help deepen the understanding of ourselves and one another, he focuses his work on individuals and communities facing the major social, political, and environmental challenges of our time. Tamir’s work has been published in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, NPR and others and his intimate documentation of the families in Uvalde, Texas, after the Robb Elementary School shooting earned him recognition from the Chris Hondros Fund and the American Mosaic Journalism Prize. Tamir also wrote, recorded and performed original music as a member of Mother Falcon, an Austin-based orchestral indie-rock ensemble founded in 2009.
