The Austin LGBT Chamber Health & Wellness Committee is offering FREE CPR certification exclusively for Chamber members!

Our partners at Ally Medical will provide expert instruction, ensuring you leave with the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency. 

After class, Syd Young (they/them), Owner of OutWellness, will host an open house and a rejuvenating 30-minute stretch session to keep your body and mind aligned. 

Facts from the American Heart Association

  • Every year, 436,000 Americans die from a cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest claims more lives than colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, influenza, pneumonia, auto accidents, HIV, firearms, and house fires combined! 
  • More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year!
  • CPR, when administered immediately after cardiac arrest can DOUBLE or TRIPLE a person's chance of survival.
  • Cardiac arrest most often occurs in homes/residences (73.4%) followed by public settings (16.3%) and nursing homes (10.3%). 
  • Only about 40% of people who experience a cardiac arrest outside the hospital get the help they need before professional help arrives.
